Terms of Service
The short version
- frndr is a directory. It lists Instagram group chats; we don’t run, control or moderate the chats themselves (except groups marked Verified, which we run).
- Joining happens on Instagram, under Instagram’s own Terms and Community Guidelines.
- You must meet the minimum age for online services where you live, and never be under 13.
- Follow the Community Rules below, Instagram’s rules and your local laws.
- frndr is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for what happens in groups or between members.
These Terms are an agreement between you and [YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME] (“frndr”, “we”, “us”), who operates the website frndr. By creating an account or using frndr you agree to these Terms, including the Community Rules. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
1. What frndr is
frndr is a directory: it helps you find group chats on Instagram, sorted by topic, and gives you a link to request to join them. That is all it does.
- Groups listed on frndr are created and run by third parties (their admins), not by us. The only exception is groups marked Verified, which are run by frndr.
- We don’t host, read or moderate conversations. Chats take place entirely on Instagram.
- frndr is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram or Meta. “Instagram” is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.
- A listing on frndr is not a recommendation or a guarantee that a group is safe, active, accurate or suitable for you.
2. Who can use frndr
To create an account you must:
- be old enough to use online services and agree to these Terms in your country (the “digital age of consent” where you live). In much of the world this is 13; in some countries it is higher, for example 14, 15 or 16 in parts of the European Union. You must never be under 13, wherever you live;
- if you are under the age of majority where you live (usually 18), have your parent or guardian’s permission where your local law requires it;
- be allowed to use Instagram under Instagram’s own terms; and
- not be barred from using frndr under the laws that apply to you, or by a previous suspension from us.
When you tick the box at sign-up, you confirm that you meet these requirements. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we delete it and its data. Some features, such as offering to help run a group as an admin, are for adults (18+) only.
3. Your account
- You sign in with your Google account. Keep it secure: you are responsible for activity on your frndr account.
- The details you give us (name, Instagram username, birth year, country and any optional details) must be true and yours. Don’t use someone else’s Instagram username or impersonate anyone.
- One account per person. Don’t sell, transfer or share your account.
- You can edit your details or delete your account at any time on your account page.
4. Community Rules
frndr is a safe-for-work directory. Whether you’re joining or listing a group, you must:
- Follow Instagram’s rules. Instagram’s Terms of Use (opens in a new tab) and Community Guidelines (opens in a new tab) apply to every group and conversation you join through frndr.
- Follow the law where you live. You are responsible for making sure your use of frndr and of any group is legal in your country.
- Keep it safe for work. No nudity, sexual content or sexual services.
- Zero tolerance for anything that sexualises or endangers minors. We remove it, close the accounts involved and report it to the authorities.
- No hate, harassment, bullying or threats, and nothing that promotes violence, self-harm or terrorism.
- No scams, spam or fraud: no fake giveaways, pyramid schemes, “investment” pitches, phishing, or selling followers, accounts or groups.
- Nothing illegal: no drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods, gambling where it is illegal, or other regulated goods and services.
- Respect privacy. Don’t share other people’s personal information, private messages or images without their permission.
- Be honest. No impersonation, fake identities or misleading information.
- Don’t misuse frndr: no scraping, bots or automated access, no attempts to break, overload or get around our security or the join gate, and no collecting other users’ details.
5. Groups and Instagram
- When you join a group, you leave frndr and go to Instagram. What happens there is between you, the group’s admins and other members, under Instagram’s terms.
- Group admins decide who can join and can remove you at any time. A link from frndr doesn’t guarantee access.
- We don’t check members’ identities. Be careful about what you share, and think twice before meeting anyone in person. If you feel unsafe, use Instagram’s reporting and blocking tools, and contact the police if anyone is in danger.
- Invite links can stop working, and groups can change topic, go quiet or close. We try to keep listings accurate but can’t promise that they are.
6. Listing a group
If you list a group on frndr, you confirm that you run it or are allowed to list it, that the listing is accurate and safe for work, and that the group follows these Terms and Instagram’s rules. You are responsible for your group and its members’ experience in it. We may edit, reject or remove any listing at any time, including for inactivity or reports.
7. What group admins see
The point of signing up is so that group admins know who’s joining. When you join a group through frndr, we may share your name and Instagram username with that group’s admins. We never share your email, birth year, gender or country with them. Admins must use what they receive only to manage their group. See the Privacy Policy for details.
8. Emails
We send emails needed to run your account. Marketing emails (group picks, new chats and sponsored offers) are only sent if you opt in, and every one of them lets you unsubscribe. You can also switch them off on your account page at any time.
9. Reports and enforcement
We don’t pre-screen groups or monitor chats, but we act on reports. If something breaks these Terms we may, at our discretion and without notice, remove listings, limit features, or suspend or delete accounts. Where the law requires it, we will tell you why and how to appeal. Report problems to =nuthsaid5@gmail.com.
10. Content and intellectual property
frndr’s name, design and software belong to us. You may not copy or reuse them without permission. Group names, descriptions and other listing content belong to whoever submitted them, who gives us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to display them on frndr and to promote frndr. If you believe something on frndr infringes your rights, contact us and we’ll look into it promptly.
11. Disclaimers
frndr is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no promises or warranties, express or implied, about frndr or any group listed on it, including that groups are safe, lawful, accurate, active or suitable for you, that links work, or that frndr will be available or error-free. We are not responsible for Instagram, for third-party groups, their admins or members, or for anything said, shared or done in them.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any loss or harm arising from groups listed on frndr, from your dealings with group admins or members, from Instagram, or from content created by others;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill or opportunity; and
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to frndr is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (frndr is free, so usually nothing) or 50 US dollars (or its equivalent in your currency).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses (including legal fees) arising from claims by others caused by your breach of these Terms, your group listing, or your conduct in any group. This does not apply to consumers where local law does not allow it.
14. Ending your use
You can stop using frndr and delete your account at any time on your account page. We may suspend or close frndr, or your access to it, at any time, for example to comply with the law or if you break these Terms. Sections 10 to 13 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as frndr changes or the law requires. If we make material changes, we’ll ask you to agree to the new version before you next join a group. Your account settings stay available either way. The date at the top shows the latest version.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR COUNTRY (AND STATE, IF US)]. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in the courts there. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
